Subsonic + Raspberry pi = Stable but slow as hell

Hi there,

I just installed subsonic on a fresh and latest updated Raspbian wheezy. My raspberry is not a B model, it's one of the first that came out.
The problem is simple: it's stable (no freeze or service unavailable issue like I got with my Windows install) but it's slow as hell!
Pages takes decades to boot up and music streaming is wildly slow. And while I tried to do such things, my raspi goes up at 100 cpu usage (via htop).
I searched over the web and it's (of course) a java perfomance issue. I tried this fix:

Code: Select all
sudo /etc/init.d/ntp stop
sudo date -s "$(date)"

But the problem still remain.
The thing I don't understand is that there're a lot of people over forums and blogs using their raspi as a subsonic server (with tons and tons of music library) and no one seems to get this issue. And the raspi being pretty much the same hardware for everyone, why am I the only one getting this issue?

So yeah, does anyone got an idea to fix this problem? Would be awesome!

Cheers!

Sorry for the late answer, I dont come here too often.

Take a look at this tutorial.
http://mj2p.co.uk/a-raspberry-pi-subson ... ng-java-8/

It uses the hard-float Java 8, and it runs great for me on a model B (512MB) rPi
The startup of Subsonic takes 100% CPU for some minutes (!) but it will go down to 2% after that, and only goes up when streaming. Transcoding works fine too.

I'm really having issues getting this all set up. I was able to install Java 8 beta and subsonic, made sure to check the router- it should be set perfect. But when I goto log in to the web address it doesn't connect. It's really stumping me which is pretty easy since I'm a complete and utter novice when it comes to this.
