Non admin users can't playback most video files in webUI

Good morning everyone.

I run subsonic on a headless ubuntu server, on an ESX server as a virtual machine. This has been the same version of ubuntu since 2007 regularly updated.

Unfortunately I am uncertain when exactly this started happening as I use subsonic mostly for music and rarely for videos and I regularly run updates on my server. Recently however most of my video files will not play in the web player unless I am an administrator.

As a regular user I get the

"Video not found or access denied:
/stream?id=STRINGTOPLAYERANDOPTIONS"

As an administrator everything seems to play.

The weird things are as follows.

Some videos play even though all videos have the same permissions within the linux filesystem.

I can download the video that won't transcode as a regular user, so it seems the user can read it.

The log doesn't throw an error

If I try and play a file as nonadmin I get the video error but the log states

tail /var/subsonic/subsonic.log states

[2013-06-02 08:57:15,732] INFO PlayQueueInputStream - reguser listening to "Morevideos.2/SomeVideo_-_S02E03.mkv"

As if it is playing perfectly.

Any ideas what is going on? My friends who use this are annoyed that it is no longer working.
