I'm very interested in this app, since another similar I am trying I am having problems with.

All of my mp3's and avi files appear in my library just fine. However, my mkv files do not show in the library. The appear in the library on the computer that is acting as the server, but they do not show on remote devices. Why is this? I have tried every setting and nothing works.

Please help me fix this ASAP

thank you
Aaron

I found the issue. Subsonic will not show videos in the root folder, like here -
viewtopic.php?t=5978

I have XBMC setup for my home theater. I am not rearranging my folder structure and then having to alter my xbmc settings in order to get this app to display my movies. That is ridiculous!

So, how can this be fixed in Subsonic? Please help.

After reading this thread - viewtopic.php?f=2&t=12185 , I see this in a little more detail, and I still think it's ridiculous. I'm not moving hundreds of gigabytes around to another folder and then having to change my settings in my XBMC layouts, databases, etc etc. My movies are in my movie folder, right where they belong. TV shows are in \public\TV Shows and then categorized by show name, season, episode (similar to a standard music folder layout). Nothing is categorized by genre, or actors, etc. I have my XBMC setup for my home theater just fine with this setup and it catalogs everything without any problems. There's no reason that the root folder contents can't be displayed.

This is a shame. Because I like this app and program better than Emit due to it's simplicity for other / remote users. It also allows me to use it without having to move all my files down a level. But because something as simple as not allowing root contents to be displayed, I am forced to abandon Subsonic and go back to Emit. I'm prepared to pay for one of these apps and will be doing so on Monday. If you can tell me how to display my movies, in their respective folder (without having to move them down a level!), I will be glad to pay for your services. Otherwise, well, the other guy is getting my money.
