SubSonic Url is no longer working

Postby arcylix » Thu Jul 11, 2013 3:49 am

For the last 4 months, I've been using my own DNS to host my music server. The address is at http://arcylix.no-ip.org:9000. It has worked flawlessly.

Three days ago, this changed. I attempted to use "MiniSub" to listen to my music at school, and it came back with "Bad server". I thought maybe my server from home shut down. This wasn't the case. I checked the settings to make sure nothing had changed. It was all the same. I attempted to log into http://arcylix.no-ip.org:9000, it did not load the SubSonic log-in page.

Absolutely nothing has changed. It does work if I use the "Premium Service" URL, but I'd love to be able to go back to using my DNS again. I've tried four different DNS servers, and every single one of them has failed to work for me.

Is there something I'm missing that I should check on now? I hate not accessing my music when I'm studying.

Maybe your ISP changed your IP address?

Go to whatismyip.com and make sure your IP is correct. (It should show your external IP - the same one that no-ip points to.) If the IP doesn't match what no-ip has, you will need to update it manually. (Check your router to see if it has the option to automatically update a No-IP DNS entry.)

Also, check the site "canyouseeme.org" to verify that your port numbers are working properly.

Weirdest thing. It was the port forwarding. I never changed any settings, but apparently my static IP had changed itself. I reset the port forwarding, and all is well again. Thank you!
