Album art as non-root user in Ubuntu

I followed Yoni's guide http://unlockforus.com/installing-subsonic-music-streamer-in-ubuntu-server-10-04-lts-lucid-lynx-2 yesterday and am really happy with it; everything appears to be working ok with the exception that I can not add art to an album in an existing folder:
java.io.FileNotFoundException: /path to/cover.jpg (Permission denied)
Have others encountered a similar issue and have you found a solution?
I'm on subsonic 4.7 and ubuntu 12.04
