mxplayer just locks up most all videos?

I switched back to old server and old android client with flash video when the support for mxplayer 1st came around.

I'm trying the new versions again tonight and still running into the same thing. Mx player just locks up and you get a message from the os that it's not responding.

I've used mxplayer for a long time for playing local sdcard media and it plays streaming videos from one website just fine what could I be doing wrong?

I get same results on either my sgs3 running cm10.1.2 or my wife's stock nook hd+. Server runs on fedora 16. Anyone think of anything I might check?
