trouble installing with Ubuntu 12.12

Problem Description: Following the installation guide, i got this error in terminal:

Troubleshooting Steps: I found the package in my file manager and opened it in the Ubuntu Software Center.
This happened:

Playback Application and version: Android app
Subsonic Version: 4.8.deb
Server Version: n/a
Hardware Platform: Linux - Ubuntu 12.12
Java Memory Limit: IDK
Problem Filename: Subsonic-4.8.deb
Output from ffmpeg -i:
Code: Select all
The program 'ffmpeg' is currently not installed.  You can install it by typing:
sudo apt-get install libav-tools

Last ten log file lines: n/a

I think I can see two possible errors that you might want to correct:

1) line 8 indicates that you have issued the following instruction: sudo dpkg -i subsonic-x.x.deb
2) line 13 indicates that you have issued the following instruction: sudo dpkg -i subonic-4.8.deb

Both of these lines contain errors. Line 8 doesn't indicate the version (4.8.deb) but refers to x.x.deb; line 13 spells subsonic incorrectly (misses out "s")

Change directory to the directory you downloaded the installation package to and try reissuing the following instruction:

sudo dpkg -i subsonic-4.8.deb

Hopefully, that should work (or, at least it did on my Ubuntu system)

well, i guess it installed, but i can't find it.

Ok -to see if it is installed type in terminal:

dpkg -s subsonic

That will tell you whether the install was successful or not.

If it was , go to your browser and type:

Http://localhost:4040

That should open the welcome page where you type in your username and password. If this is the first installation on your system, these are admin and admin
