Trouble adding new Time Capsule as media server

Postby christheberge » Mon Aug 12, 2013 1:01 pm

I am new to Subsonic and have a new 2 TB Time Capsule with a music folder on it, but am unable to add it as a media server in Subsonic.

I have port forwarding enabled and functioning in Subsonic according to Settings > network but I cannot figure out what path to type into the media folder for my time capsule. Do I have to configure anything on the time capsule as well ?

thanks in advance for any help.

Assuming this is on a Mac, open a terminal window, and type "cd /Volumes" and press enter, then type "ls -l" and enter. This will list all of the available volumes on your Mac. One should say "Macintosh Hard Drive", and another should refer in some way to the Time Capsule.

If your Time Capsule is called "Time Capsule", then you would add a media folder in Subsonic to: /Volumes/Time Capsule/Path-To-Media/

Thanks so much Gurutech ..that did the trick ! its quite amazing to me that a time capsule can be a NAS and provide automated backup for all my macs simultaneously. I realize though that the timemachine backups will continue to eat up the HD space so am wondering whether i should use the usb drive option on TC but am concerned it might not perform as well as the TC internal drive. In any case thanks so much for sorting out my problem.
