New win install, android app cannot connect anymore

I am running version 4.8 with java 1.6.0_37 on windows 7 professional, and the subsonic service is running using port 4040. It is accessible from the website, and I have verified port 4040 is open to UPD and TCP any ports, and directed to my desktop PC where subsonic is running and the music files reside. I don't know what I am doing wrong, but the subsonic android app version 3.8 cannot access my pc via either of 2 dynamic dns services (dyndns, noIP). I have verified they are active and have my router's iP address, and the port forwarding on the router is setup. This all used to work correctly, but I needed to reinstall windows 7 and I am confident that the issue is on the PC. I dont know what else to check or verify, as I have thoroughly gone through all the settings on the subsonic web page. Can you offer any suggestions?

I should note that the android app is able to contact your subsonic server, but when trying to test the connections to my configured servers, It says contacting servers, retries 4 times, then times out.

Windows Firewall exception? Test 4040 at canyouseeme.org.

I used another site to do that, and it saw port 4040 with TCP but with the service running it could not see it UDP. If I stopped the service it was visible. It was 2 days ago so I might have the TCP or UDP confused. At any rate with the service running, it wasn't visible with one of the protocols.

I just uninstalled subsonic, deleted the C:subsonic folder, and re-installed it. This time it failed to create the port forwarding. I manually did the port forwarding according to the instructions. According to CanUSeeMe.org, Port 80 is not open, port 4040 is open. (I don't recall needing port 80 from prior installations?) Port 80 is enabled on the remote admin page of my actiontec (Verizon FIOS) router, and I do not believe verizon blocks that port.

Attempts to access Subsonic from my Android still usually time out after 4 retries.

This copy of subsonic is licensed.

You need to double-check your entries in the app, because I can see your server just fine using your IP. 8)

Thank you Alphawave7. Somehow (I tried a million things) I got my android to connect, and it can see my music library, but it cannot see any playlists even though I entered the playlists path, and made sure every node in that path is visible. My android app keeps telling me "No saved playlists on server". I see where one can import one playlist, but it still doesn't show up.

What am I missing? I've had this app for several years and use it regularly, but since having to reinstall windows and apps, I am pulling my hair out. (I'm trying to pull only the gray ones.)

I love this app, and I love it when it works, but it has to be one of the most complex to configure, in my experience. ARGH!

Version 4.8 just doesn't work for me. I reinstalled the version I have been using for years (4.6), and everything works fine...media, playlists, port forwarding, etc. I'll use this version for ever more. I don't need any updates, especially when they break my running environment.

I confess to sticking with 4.6 myself.
