Any recommendations for NAS + Subsonic?

i was wondering if someone here could give me a recommendation for a NAS that will work well with Subsonic AND which is powerful enough to do video transcoding.
I had a iomega StoreCenter ix4-300d for a couple of days and i managed to install subsonic but the 512m + the slow cpu didn't deliver acceptable performance on that part.
i am thinking about getting a synology 412+ which runs on a 2.13 ghz cpu and 1 gb of ddr3 ram but i am not sure if this will be sufficiant. maybe someone has tried this before or is running a similar setup.
