Problems with new VLC

I just downloaded the newest VLC media player version 0.9.2 and it crashes when I try to play music through Subsonic. It seems to work ok when I connect to Radio Paradise MP3 streams which is also a M3U stream. The old version of VLC worked fine. Any ideas why this new version doesn't work?

edit I am running version 3.4 (build 530) of Subsonic

After upgrading to VLC 0.9.2 I've also got problems. The stream starts and lasts for about two seconds before it stops... (My player don't crash, it just stops to stream)

Subsonic version 3.5.beta1 (build 561)

Same with me. I decided to downgrade VLC and all is well again.

I was having this problem on 3.5b1. I resolved it by giving the remote player control over the stream. The downside to this is that if you add a song to your playlist you need to reload the stream in the player. It works great if you already got an established stream, or if you don't mind doing this every time you add a song.

1. Go To: Settings > Players
2. Select your player
3. Check the box that says "Playlist is managed by player"
4. Click Save, and reload the stream.

I have the same problem, and the solution posted by OutrightLie works for me. I wonder if this is a problem with VLC or Subsonic. The M3U files look fine though, so I doubt it's Subsonic.

I'm letting Cool Player handle my M3U files for now. It's a nice little music player. I still like VLC for video files.

Giving the remote player control over the playlist solved my problem. And it also made me aware of functionality I did not know about, this makes Subsonic even more perfect :)

Thanks for the tip!

From time to time I get occasional drop outs, which interrupt the music. Very annoying. The solution mentioned before does not resolve the issue, I too have the latest VLC, by which the playlist is managed.

I'm not seeing any drop outs in the status screen.
I'm using Subsonic 3.5.beta2 (build 666)

Any ideas anyone?

PS: I love Subsonic :)
