Just installed SubSonic 3.4.

I got frustrated with Shoutcast's inability to consistently display track info so I switched to SubSonic. The nice thing about Sub Sonic is that on my own pc, the track info updates automatically.

Unfortunatley, NOWHERE in the site gives explicit instructions on how to share with your friends. This seems to be the ONLY advantage shoutcast has over subsonic...

I signed up for a ddyndns account (http://slyce.dontexist.com:8000/) and still, my contact is unable to access the playlist I had playing using that URL.

Shoutcast only requires the "listener" to access a link (sample below) and the player automatically downloads the stream

http://[my ip address]:8000/listen.pls

Since I'm using Subsonic (and hopefully STICK with SubSonic), what address should I give to the listener?

Do you still have problems?

I do not know what you try to do here. I assume you meant for your friends to connect to the subsonic gui. Right?

If so they should access it via:

http://slyce.dontexist.com:8000/subsonic

Note that if you have a router between your subsonic server machine and the Internet, you need to map the port used by subsonic through the router.

If you only want them to listen to the same stream as you currently listens on, then you should give them the URL used by your playback program. This is that yourself is accessing subsonic through the ddyndns account.
