*.subsonic.org redirecting to wrong address

Postby flvinny521 » Tue Nov 05, 2013 8:49 pm

I've set up subsonic a few separate occasions, most recently to reinstall my OS. I've set it up once again with all my usual settings, but when attempting to use my external subsonic.org address, I am redirected to an IP which I don't recognize at all. As a result, I am unable to connect to my server from outside of my own network.

How can I force this redirect to be refreshed, or better yet, manually set the IP in order to access my server from anywhere?

Set up a No-IP or DynDNS account and choose a domain that fits what you are trying to do (ie, "servemp3.com" or something similar), and create your hostname, then use a "port 80 redirect" to port 4040 and pull in your IP address.

Some routers will allow you to configure No-IP or DynDNS into the router so your IP will be updated automatically, while others will require the download of a small utility to run on your computer to do this for you.

Thanks for the tip, gurutech. For now I used the far less elegant way of just registering a new address and switching all my clients' server info one by one. A new *.subsonic.org address redirected perfectly where it was supposed to go.
