playing/streaming without transcoding

I have some files that are AIFF, WAVE and M4a that I want to hear full resolution without transcoding. I am not clear on whether subsonic can stream any of these, but I turned off transocding on my player (android) and found that the wave files do play but the aiff and m4a do not. I believe this is after downloading though, not streaming. Does that sound correct ? Basically I want to have some higher res files that are left intact and i don't mind downloading them. Any pointers ?
