Cannot Access Server on LAN from iPhone

Postby jdawg5600 » Wed Nov 27, 2013 3:31 am

When I am connected to Wi-Fi on my home network, I cannot connect to the server from my iPhone using the public address http://name.subsonic.org

When I turn off Wi-Fi, I have no problem connecting to the server from my iPhone using the public address.

If the server is hosted on my LAN, I am confused as to why I cannot access it using my iPhone which is on the same LAN. I use iSub, I think what I need to do is hit the local IP of the server when I'm on Wi-Fi but I don't see a way to add another server which is essentially the same server, just want to use the private IP instead of the public.

Please help!

The DNS server is resolving your server name to the IP address of your phone instead of the IP Address of your server. It's a known issue. The only workaround is to create your own DDNS account (such as DynDNS or No-IP), and use that when you are on your home network.

Alternatively, you can just use the IP address of your server in isub.
