Okay. So, I'm sure there's a lot of these topics, so sorry.

Okay, so I downloaded everything, the little yellow submarine is sitting in the tray and I can get to localhost from my own computer.

Everything is in order. However, I wanted to stream my music on to the internet so that I can listen to it at school.

I figured out that I had to create a domain, then host my IP address on it...which I did. I created subsonic.podzone.org, and it worked on my computer.

But when I tried it on my friend's computer, it wouldn't ever load.

I don't know what I am doing wrong. Can someone tell me please?

Does your PC running subsonic connect to the internet via a router?

If so you need to enable port-forwarding on the router.

So for example: If your Subsonic PC uses port 81 and has IP 192.168.0.2

You will need to forward port 81 to 192.168.0.2.

This will redirect all port 81 traffic sent to your domain name (in reality your external IP address or IP given to you by your ISP) to your internal IP address.

Alos make sure any firewall you have running will allow an inbound connection to that port.

Thank you so much for responding. I think I finally understand what I'm doing wrong. One more question. How do you get to the router? I know, I feel like an idiot.

easiest way is to open a cmd window and type ipconfig.
You default gateway will be 192.168.x.x

That address is the same as your router.
