Any way to listen on an iPhone?

No WAP on the iPhone. When I go to the WAP page, it just loads the XML as text. When I try to play from Safari, it doesn't work. What am I missing?

Thanks for the help.

Ditto!

I, too, would like to know how to get subsonic to play nice with my iPhone. But I see the original post is dated and still no reply. What gives? Thanks in advance for your time.

Web-player works on the iPod Touch ( and thus almost guaranteed also working on iPhone ). The only snag is that the safari triggers the embedded quicktime-player when you start a playlist and you are therefore logged out from the subsonic session when you stop playing the playlist. But to setup a playlist and have all your beautiful music to enjoy when idling in some cafè.. acceptable :)

I'm currently working on a Subsonic client for Android phones.

Hopefully the support for iPhones will also improve in the near future, either by implementing a dedicated app, or by making special web interface.

jigsaw,

Please explain exactly how you have this configured. I assume you cannot mean "web player" as Iphone/ipod touch does not support flash. I have tried external player both with and without playlist. While it does launch quicktime it just sits there without actually playing anything.

Thanks!

I do mean web player actually. I was just browsing around when I got the idea to try to start the web player from my iPod Touch and it launched quicktime and started playing through the playlist I had defined. It plays the entire playlist without any issues that I have encountered.
Choosing an external player triggers the download of an m3u-playlist which it does not play, so that doesn't work as far as I can tell. Also tried the wap-interface but it seemed to not identify that at all as I just saw an entire screen of html-code.

OMG ANDROID SUBSONIC

HOLY SHIT. You just made my day, I'm picking up a mytouch next week. An Android Subsonic client....will be the best thing EVER. Hopefully it will work over the cell connection (like the last.fm app) and not require WiFi.

Seriously, sindre, awesome news. I know you're motivated by your great product and not money, but I'll be guilted in to throwing a donation your way for giving me my entire music collection on my phone.

Been using my android phone for a couple of days now. Highly awaiting a subsonic client. Shoot me an email/pm/whatever if you need someone to help test.

Odd. Mine doesn't work either. How are you getting it to play in the first place? Mine just says "Get Flash Player" when it's set to web player.
What version os subsonic were you using here? Have you tried the latest version on your ipod touch?

For playing on an ipod or iphone select the External Player (not the webplayer) in your Subsonic settings. Add the songs you want to hear to the playlist and open the url like this in Safari;

http://10.0.0.47/stream?player=1&suffix=.mp3

Replace IP address and player number/name to reflect your own and off you go!

Only thing missing is you cant open a 2nd browser to control the playlist while listening on your pod/phone.

Sindre, how about a Subsonic client app in the Apple App Store ;-)

Yes, I would like to see that. If anyone feels like making it, please do :-) The server already has the necessary REST API.

I might look into it myself at a later time, but I have some other stuff to do first.

Cool it works!

Sindre, couldn't you build this URL just be set as an option in the player settings? Like, instead of web player or external player, there would be an iphone option and it would just set web player and redirect to a URL such as this?
An iphone app would be ideal, but that would be a great (and seemingly simple) addition to the next version in the mean time.

Anybody have any iPhone development skills? It would be amazing to have a mobile interface for managing and listening your music collection. Even if it just has basic features, it would be great!
