Player woes, and suggestions

Any suggestions as to which player I might try? BTW, I listen to mp3's, playlists, internet radio and podcasts.
- Latest VLC only plays a few seconds and stops
backlevel VLC spawns new players if I pick another album to play
WMP keeps popping itself into the foreground with every click
internal player has playlist reset problems, plus starts playing autoannoyingly.
Any suggestions as to which player I might try? BTW, I listen to mp3's, playlists, internet radio and podcasts.
