Media from another location

I am considering getting a dedicated server for my seedbox and to run my Subsonic but it only has a 1tb hard drive and I have about 5 TB of data i want added to the subsonic.. My question is, is it possible to keep my data on my machine and some how stream it to my dedicated server and transcode and send out to the player from the server. not sure if its possible..

What I was thinking if I run a vpn and connect both my machine and the server to and make the folders available in the VPN so on the server side it seemed like a network drive.

i have a 10mb upload so I can push a file at about 1.5mb/s

Could somoene let me know if this is a good idea or if it would even work.. no one answer my last question so I am trying to search other avenues.

Thanks

Install fuse and sshfs ( on server 3 )

Server B created a directory /var/www/userA
Server B created a directory /var/www/userC

Tape in server B
sshfs root@1.1.1.1:/home /var/www/userA
he will ask the password server A

a security key will be created

if you do not want to enter
echo password | sshfs root@1.1.1.1:/home /var/www/userA -o workaround=rename -o password_stdin

this is a remake of each boot server B

but you can make a spot start

and in case of subsonic
/var/www/userA/nameA
/var/www/userA/nameB
...
/var/www/userC/nameAAA
...

under windows can be a virtual linux (eg Cygwin) ?
