Subsonic server losing connection?

Postby chulsmith » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:34 am

Hello! Please see the issue I'm having below. Any help you can provide would be great! Thank you! chul

Problem Description: My Subsonic server seems to be losing connection even though my machine is connected to the internet. I have a macmini that is always on - never goes to sleep - and I have subsonic server running on it. It's connected to my router (not broadcasted). I have internet connection just fine. When I log into subsonic using Chrome on a different machine (Macbook Air to be exact) within my apartment, connected to the same wireless connection, it works fine for a few songs. Sometimes it will be five songs, other times it will work for a few hours. But then the music just stops playing. I refresh and it gives me the error: This webpage is not available (with the Chrome sad face).

Troubleshooting Steps: I've quit/restarted the subsonic server. I've quit/restarted the macmini. What seems to work is that I have TeamViewer running on the macmini. When I try to connect to the macmini via TeamViewer (from my macbook air), before I even make the connection, I can refresh the (sad face) page and it will re-connect just fine. It just annoying to have to continue to do this.

Playback Application and version: Using Chrome Version 32.0.1700.77

Subsonic Version: 4.8 (build 3434) – April 17, 2013

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.6.0_65, Mac OS X (54.6 MB / 88.5 MB)

Hardware Platform: (Windows, Mac, Linux, NAS Model, etc... Invclude version if applicable)

Have you examined any logs for Mac Mini/router/Subsonic? Any clues there?

Wireless overheating issue?

Sometimes wireless devices start having problems when streaming heats up weak chips. If your on a wireless connection, try a cable connection to see if you can reproduce the behavior.

Hi - thanks for the replies.

I haven't inspected any logs - to be honest, I don't even know where to find them (DOH!)

I'll try the wired connection to see if there's any difference and will report back.

Thanks again!
