Every looks good. Still no remote access.

Postby jebrown1 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 1:51 am

I've been using subsonic for several years. I recently reloaded software on my mac mini. Installed subsonic with activation key. I can access my music within my own network with Safari 192.168.109.60:4040. I can't access my music by entering stonecoldjb.subsonic.org from within my network like I used to. Of course from the internet I have no access to subsonic. Canyouseeme.org says it can see port 4040. I can ping stonecoldjb.subsonic.org from both inside and outside my network. The subsonic network settings show that port 4040 is being forwarded and also this:

http://stonecoldjb.subsonic.org

Status: stonecoldjb.subsonic.org responded successfully.

Why is it that from the internet I can't access subsonic??? Everthing looks good. When I go to a web browser and enter: stonecoldjb.subsonic.org it just takes me straight to the subsonic.org main page.
If I enter: 67.165.123.112:4040 I can reach subsonic from outside my network.

I have a log-in page, so it works over WAN. Did your router get a firmware update recently? You appear to have a loopback problem. I have always set up a 'Home' server using LAN address, 'Away' server using .org address in my clients, and haven't experienced any issues over quite a few routers.

That's strange that it works for you over WAN. I guess I'm confused at this point. I can access the server from my iPhone using iSub but no folders show up. No new router firmware that I know of.

If I enable personal hotspot on my iPhone so that I am connecting my macbook (my mac mini is the server) to the WAN through the iPhone, I am NOT able to reach my subsonic server and yet you are able. I can't even get it through the lan. I guess what this is boiling down to is that my .org address does not work anymore.

Well it DOES work..what is not happening is your router is not directly forwarding the .org address LAN request to your LAN IP. In iSub, set up a Home server with the LAN IP:Port, and it should work.

edit: corrected for clarity

Ok I got iSub working through WAN by entering the WAN ip address 67.165.123.112:4040 . Do you have any idea how to make my airport extreme router work with the .org address? Nothing has changed on the router since before I reloaded software on my mac mini. It was working.

According to this:
http://opensimulator.org/wiki/NAT_Loopback_Routers
The Airport Extreme supports NAT Loopback...perhaps log into its config page and poke around for NAT Loopback settings. It should respond to your .org address request by routing it directly to your LAN IP address of Mac Mini server.

The router is operating in dhcp and nat mode and nat port mapping protocol is enabled. I'd like to solve this but I'll be content to use iSub the way it's set up now using the WAN address.

It should work just using your LAN address while at home (the way I do it).
According to this:

You may just need to review and correct your port mapping...reboot your router after making any changes. Your modem/gateway shouldn't be involved, if the router request gets properly routed (iow, loopback working).

It does work at home using the lan address. I stated that in the first entry. If I use an ip address I have no problem reaching my server. I can't access my server in or out of my home using the .org address.

The only part of that statement that doesnt jive is "out of my home using the .org address." I see the log-in page just fine. 8) LAN IP@home, and .org addy away resolves these pesky router quirks.

I see the login page as well using the .org address.

Ok, thanks man for confirming that, I do really appreciate it :) . For whatever reason my iPhone (through 4g lte, i.e.WAN) does not go to the subsonic login even through a web browser. I really don't get it how you can get it but not me :( .
