Genre Sorting Issue with AIF & WAV

Postby SkinnyZeroOne » Tue Feb 25, 2014 11:17 pm

Hi all. After changing my Subsonic music files over to WAV & getting all the files setup, I immediately noticed that I could no longer sort by either genre or year.
I decided to do investigate it so I replaced all the WAVs with AIFs. Now I could sort by year (Which I don't care about), but still cannot sort by genre.
It's as if there are no genre tags in the files. I assure you that there are - even in my WAV files. I use dBpoweramp and even my WAV files are loaded with tags.

So I added some FLAC files which I was using and - problem gone ... sort by genre works only on the FLACs. (MP3s too etc ...)
These are also ripped with dBpoweramp in uncompessed FLAC format.

So it appears to be an issue reading the Genre tag in both WAV & AIF files.

I'm using Subsonic 4.9 (build 3853) & other than this I have no issues what so ever. It's just a beautiful thing.
Hope to get this resolved - Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

From what you've mentioned it seems that FLAC tags are being read properly if they are present. Do you have a reason for keeping the files as WAV instead of FLAC? You may want to put them into FLAC. As far as looking at the tags and confirming they're good, this is a tool I've used for 6+ years that has never let me down. Take a look at this, and see if it doesn't help you a bit with editing / batch updating the tags. Sometimes just changing the version of the tags used can help out.
