Playing music in Subsonic causes disconnections/latency

Postby GH0 » Sun Apr 13, 2014 9:47 pm

Alright, so after INTENSIVE testing to try and figure out why and what is causing my constant disconnections from other services that I host. I have finally found the issue is subsonic. As if I don't play a single song on subsonic (and instead use pandora), I don't have any issues with disconnecting at all during the day.

This problem occurs when I am playing a new song (it doesn't matter what size/length), but until the entire song is transferred and loaded so that I can play it seamlessly in subsonic, I have intermittent connectivity issues to any service that I am hosting on that same box. This doesn't occur with any other service (Plex, Apache websites, znc, etc). If a new song loads, I am sometimes disconnected from services I am already connected to.

I thought setting a upload/download quota would help fix this, so I set it to 1/4 of the bandwidth that I pay for (my bandwidth is generally consistent), yet I still run into the issue. I am not sure why it disconnects me/doesn't let me access the services, but it is mildly annoying. Subsonic itself fails to properly work as well since I can't load some of the interface due to the issue.

I run subsonic behind Apache2 using proxypass and proxypassreverse. I have attached some of the pictures that I am referring to the load bar, and then the services disconnecting (it isn't just one,but this was the easiest to take a picture for at the time.

I don't have physical access to the server at the moment, but I can get it, if I need a console connection while I replicate the issue.

Bump, this is still a problem. I didn't mention it earlier but the bandwidth I pay for is 20 Mbit down, and 2Mbit up. I have limited Subsonic to 256 Kbit to try and resolve these issues, but they still occur.
