Subsonic Android App Problem

Two of them were Galaxy S4 phones upgraded to the new KitKat flavor. Other one was a friend's HTC One I believe (forget exactly), asked me about the same thing and found the same culprit.
Subsonic takes over and starts playing whatever is in the queue, for message notifications. Instead of text, we get loud music of whatever was queued up. By far and away unacceptable. Purge the queue every time I have a meeting? No thanks. Or sit in the checkout to have the wife message me to remember milk and have music blast out of my pocket... Could be opera, could be progressive tech metal. Doesn't matter either way. It shouldn't be happening.
Simply put, the easiest solution is to uninstall it and use another option of which there are plenty.
