Many artists shown twice in listing

Ever since upgrading to 4.9 (including the betas), all of my Subsonic clients started showing most of the artists in my library twice. The first artist contains all albums and songs. The second artist contains either nothing, or one or two empty albums (duplicated from the first artist but with no songs in them).

The name is exactly the same, there are no differences in the text or spacing or anything. The web UI for Subsonic only shows each artist once, but all of my clients (Subsonic for Android, DSub, Subclient for Java) have the issue with artists showing up twice.

I tried cleaning the database and rescanning my library.

I did some quick searching but didn't find anyone else with this issue (unless I just didn't search for the right terms).

Has anyone else experienced this, and how was it solved?

Wow--Discovered my issue. I have both a new Music folder (better organized) and an old Music folder that still contains a few things I haven't yet organized. I didn't realize this, but I still have empty directories in the old folder for many artists and some albums. Subsonic is picking those up and displaying them even if there's no music in them.

So this is my fault--although, should Subsonic really be showing artists and albums that have no music in them?
