m4a Apple purchased songs don't play (FFMpeg issue)

I've just installed my server on my mac and it works beautifully for some songs but others aren't working (both on my mobile or web app). What's the problem???? It seems to be any MP4 songs with the m4a extension, so in other words the Apple lossless format conversion to MP3 doesn't seem to work...
I'm running Subsonic 5.0 beta (4.9 doesn't seem to work) on Mac OSX 10.9 Maverick. Android kitkat 4.4 on my Nexus device.

seem to be a serious bug in the osx version of subsonic

I'm having the same issue. The only way they seem to work is if you skip forward 30 seconds into the song - not really a solution though.

My fix was to downgrade to 4.9 - all files play fine now.

Just wanted to bump this. I'm using version 5.0.beta1 (build 4048) for Ubuntu and having the same issue.
This is in the subsonic.log
- Code: Select all
[2014-06-25 09:45:58,370] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream - Starting transcoder: [/var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg] [-i] [/media/[PATH].m4a] [-ab] [128k] [-v] [0] [-f] [mp3] [-]

This is still broken with 5.0 beta 2. The only solution is to copy the ffmpeg file from a 4.9 install and overwrite the new ffmpeg which is installed in 5.0 beta 2 (or b1).
It lives in /var/subsonic/transcode/ in linux

I just updated to 5.0 Stable (debian) and this issue seems to be resolved. It looks like the correct ffmpeg transcoder was included this time. Thanks!
- Code: Select all
[9/26/14 10:07:01 AM CDT] DEBUG TranscodeInputStream Starting transcoder: [/var/subsonic/transcode/ffmpeg] [-i] [/media/[filename].m4a] [-map] [0:0] [-b:a] [128k] [-v] [0] [-f] [mp3] [-]
EDIT: This is written in the log and the files play correctly.
