Cannot open subsonic in browser

Problem Description: (I have been using subsonic with my roku successfully for 2 years. It quit working, so I reconfigured my roku settings with the exact same computer address, username and password that had always worked. It would not connect, so I checked the control panel on my computer and tried resetting these values with no result. Whenever I try to open subsonic in my browser, I get this error:HTTP ERROR: 503 SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE RequestURI=/subsonic Powered by jetty://" I tried resetting my port forwarding using PortForward, and it says the port is open.

Troubleshooting Steps: See above.

Playback Application and version:roku
Subsonic Version: 4.9

Server Version: I cant reach the server
Hardware Platform: Windows XP
Java Memory Limit: 150
Problem Filename: n/a
Output from ffmpeg -i: I don't understand this
Last ten log file lines: I cant reach the web interface

I resolved the issue on my own. I had been unable to uninstall/reinstall previously, as I got an error concerning some file that was missing which made uninstall unable to run. For some reason unknown to me, later when I tried uninstall again, it worked and I was able to reinstall subsonic successfully. I was then able to reach the web interface and configure subsonic successfully.

I have another question, however. When I reinstalled and configured subsonic and downloaded the subsonic tv channel ap, it put the new channel on my roku channel list. However the old subsonic tv channel is still on the channel list and it confirms that I have registered the service until next year. This old channel does not connect/is not connected, but it says that I have registered for subsonic for one year. (which I have done) The problem is: the new subsonic tv channel works and it does have the choice of "remove channel". The old subsonic tv channel does not have the "remove channel option" and it is the one that verifies my one year subscription. Do I have to keep this old channel that is no longer connected? Is there any way to remove it from my roku channel list? And if I do remove it, will that cancel my subscription on the new subsonic tv channel?

So, I guess this "help" forum is just a facade. Apparently there are no "help" moderators here that actually respond to help questions, etc... So, I guess I am talking to myself. So, self, you know, you can always tell a Norwegian, but you can't tell him much and you sure shouldn't expect him to respond to help questions on his app website. That is "self" evident here, self.

And we have never \"supported\" the roku SubsonicTV app...they have their own \"support\".

We really do sympathize with anyone who's actually conversing with themselves over Subsonic.

First, please understand that this is a USER's forum, not technical support. Anyone who responds/contributes does so voluntarily and no one is under any obligation to provide any level of service and no such services are expressed or implied anywhere on this forum or any website associated with Subsonic.

Second. All users should understand that as an application designed to run on any hardware and just about any Operating System, it's impossible for any single user to understand and/or be prepared to answer/diagnose all the issues and difficulties that may arise on any unique configuration.

Third. The more unique your configuration, the fewer users there are that will be familiar with or have already encountered your particular issue which could be the result of any small issue with hardware, Operating System, a third party application, or even, yes, it could just possibly also be a bug in Subsonic that others have not yet encountered.

I have the same impression, too. This is my second time here.

I won't recommend subsonic anymore to anyone with this lack of support.

Or...adjust your expectations and enjoy the software from what is essentially a lone soul doing his hobby on his own time. You have alternatives but as most of us have been there done that.. we remain committed to Subsonic, along with other services. Lastly, you are encouraged to email Sindre if you are dissatisfied by our volunteer 'support'...or lack of.

Nor will you spend 2 or 3 days trying to help someone only to find out that they are behind a double NAT and have no clue ...

Or the guy who can't understand why his LAN address is screwed up and can't understand why someone here in the forum couldn't figure out that he wasn't mentioning anything about his VMware installation and virtual adapters that were conflicting with his Subsonic installation.

viewtopic.php?f=2&t=14058

No doubt - you are truly a tragic loss to this community.

I can't help but wonder what this has to do with absolutely anything.

That much was apparent from the beginning...
