Folder Not Found [solved]

I moved my folders around and had to add the new locations. I deleted the current folders, that were working just fine, and proceeded to add the new folder locations. After adding the folders I get an error that says "Folder Not Found". I re installed the program, while also deleted c:/subsonic, but it still gives me the same error. I am 100% certain that the paths are correct. I have my directories organized in the recommended format of "artist/album/song". I am using subsonic 4.9 (build 3853) on windows. The files are local. I'm using the admin account. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

From what I see, it seems like the only rational explanation would be permission settings on the folders. Seems a bit odd, but not impossible that the folders are owned by a user or account that Subsonic does not have permission to access.

There should be a couple ways to fix. Examine the folders permissions carefully and edit to make them r/w public - if you identify the owner or another user/account with r/w permission, you can edit the subsonic service to use those credentials.

Thank you for your quick response. I changed all of the group policies and individual users to full control. It still isn't working. The owner of the folder is the group policy "Administrators". My user is already an administrator, but I changed the owner to my username "John D. Zoidberg" anyway without any success. I tried starting the subsonic service by right clicking and selecting run as administrator, as well. Also, these aren't the only music folders on my computer that this is happening to. I have others in a separate local drive that I have successfully added to subsonic in the past. They haven't been changed since, and are currently not working also.

Here is a screenshot of the folder permissions...

Lately, I have been having some general problems with my windows installation (blue screened a few times, and other bad behavior from programs), so it is possible that this could be attributed to these recent problems. I just wanted to check to see if it was a known subsonic problem, setting ignorance, or my computer. This could be the last straw that will get my lazy butt to do a reinstall :P

Open Control Panel
Administrative Tools
Services

Locate the Subsonic service

Right Click

Click on Properties

Select the Log On tab and change the log on account to one that has permission to the folder(s).

Use the Browse button to be sure to verify that you're properly selecting an active account. You will then enter the password for the selected account.

Click OK

Then restart the service for the changes to take effect.

Either that or add "Everyone" to the c:\Streaming folder permissions. Either approach should work.

Neither solutions worked. Since a fresh install didn't work, I can only assume it's something with my computer. There really are quite a few things that have been going wrong with it. A windows re-installation is probably my best option. I've been meaning to do it anyway. But until then, I will be willing to try anything else you can think of. Thank you for all your help!

Easiest Solution would be to put your music files into a Public directory.

I have, I moved them to "C:\Users\Public\Music" and it still doesn't work.

Then you've most likely got problems beyond the scope of what can be fixed through forum interaction.

Sounds like your OS permissions/Group Policy may be corrupt and perhaps you're correct that re-installing the OS is your best option.

Good Luck.
