After trying to upgrade to java 1.8, not having it working, then downgrading back to java 1.6, I am faced with the dreaded 503 ERROR each time I try to load subsonic.

I am running subsonic 4.9 on a raspberry pi. The initial install worked, but then after I upgraded to java 1.8 then downgraded to 1.6, I am faced with this problem.

The webpage error in full is:

Code: Select all
HTTP ERROR: 503
SERVICE_UNAVAILABLE
RequestURI=/index.view
Powered by jetty://

and here is my log file.

This is due to corrupting the db files that happens when you do something disruptive without first stopping the Subsonic service. Abrupt shutdowns, upgrades, reconfigurations that are unexpected when the Subsonic service is active doesn't let the database files get closed properly before the changes disrupt the application service.

ALWAYS - Make regular backups of the data directory (C:\Subsonic on Windoze or var/subsonic on Lumux)

If you don't have a backup, you can search the forums for recommended alternatives, but this sort of thing usually result in a complete re - installation as the least painful approach if you don't have a copy of the data directory.

HTH

Deleting var/subsonic then reinstalling fixed it -- and now it works with java 1.8. Thanks!
