Streaming witn vista and winamp

Postby bluetooth » Mon Jan 05, 2009 1:43 pm

I have subsonic running on my Vista Ultimate pc. From an XP machine, winamp works fine receving the stream.

From the local Vista machine, winamp won't accept the stream even though the stream source is locahost.

I have disabled the firewall but still no happiness. Windows Media Player works, but I prefer winamp so Evil Lyrics will display the lyrics while playing.

Does anyone have winamp streaming working with Vista?

Trying to figure out what is going on here. I can access Shoutcasts, and a variety of internet streaming radio stations with winamp.

If I use WinAmp with Subsonic 3.6, it never gets past the connecting message.

Anyone here have any suggestions?
BTW, only reason I prefer winamp over WMP is because winamp allows evil lyrics to display lyrics.

Sure would be nice to get some kind of reply on this. What I want to do is use winamp as the external player in Vista. Works fine with streaming internet radio and podcasts. It does not play the song when selected in Subsonic 3.6.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or have this working?

PS:
The reason I prefer winamp is so it loads lyrics dynamically.

When you browse to subsonic on the machine that's hosting it, do you browse to localhost? Try browsing to your computers LAN IP (ie http://192.168.0.100 - you can find it by hitting Windows-R, cmd, ipconfig) and see if that changes it. If not, try getting a free URL for your server (so it's accessible on the WAN - no-ip.com is good) and browse to it that way.

Let us know if any of those suggestions fix it for you.

Thanks for the reply. I should have added I'm accessing the subsonic server from an internal network.

I have been accessing subsonic using the netbios name, but using your idea of the ip address seems to have solved the problem.

Thanks!
