Subsonic Forum

I'm going to install subsonic on my debian server (actually a debian based distro called Bananian running on my Banana Pi) and would like some pointers as to which method will give me the best performance in the long run. I would rather put some extra time in setting up things well in the beginning to get the best performance with the fewest resources used that I can.

This machine is already a mythtv backend and has lighttpd and mysql installed.

What are the advantages/disadvantages of each of these installation methods?

- Debian method
- Stand-alone
- WAR install

I have a subsonic setup on as raspberry pi (not the same but they are like brothers), and i been using the Debian method for almost two years with minimum crashes. I don't use transcoding or video streaming, is just for music.

The WEB interface runs smoothly, streaming to phones is fast and the it can handle 10 people simultaneously (total of users of my server), but I believe It can handle much more.
One of the cons is the the time require to scan all my library (about 1:30 hrs for 900 GB), and when the pi crashes (like once every 3-4 months) it takes 1:00 hrs to restart the subsonic server

I saw some mention that if I want java with hardfloat support that I need to run java 1.8? Is that right?

Dunno, but you can have hardfloat support with Oracle Java 7 JDK. Here (http://www.raspberrypi.org/oracle-java-on-raspberry-pi/) is the information and how to install it
