objective: synchronous whole house audio
I've had Subsonic Server running for some time now but only use it to provide single use, remote access to my media library to my remote Android device. I'm wondering if Subsonic might provide the additional benefit of allowing me to synchronize the audio output of my home media pc's. I have 5 media pc's each connected to high-fidelity amplifier and speakers in various zones throughout the home. What I'd like to do is have them all playing the same stream, synchronized, with no observable delays creating a nice whole house audio effect. Will Subsonic do this? I was looking briefly at Logitech Media Server and realized I already had a Media Server and may not be fully utilizing it.
In the "old days" I would run several RCA stereo cables to each room splitting out line level signal from a central amplifier that was fed by a single PC. However, the home I'm currently in doesn't allow the easy access to run RCA cables to the various rooms. I tried using the existing, unused telephone lines and got a lot of interference from the electrical circuits in the walls. I realized, however, that I have some kind of wireless audio device (PC, Laptop or even old Android device) available for each room. Perhaps I can link them all together with Subsonic. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.
