Hi

I can no longer connect to my subsonic server remotely from another pc (inside or outside my LAN) or android advice. I believe this started when I upgraded to 5.1 a few days ago. I noticed the following issues in my log

[2/26/15 9:07:03 PM GMT] WARN SettingsService Failed to validate license.

And on the network page this message;

xxxxxxxx.subsonic.org is registered, but could not connect to it. (ConnectTimeoutException)

The first steps I took was to restarted my PC and router. I am running Subsonic on WHS v1. So I upgraded to 5.2 but still can't connect and I get the following error on the home page....

I went back to 5.0 and it's all working again. Perhaps I'll try a later version of 5.2, or maybe there is something about whs v1 that it doesn't play nicely with anymore.

Is there a fix here? I recently changed out the router in my home... but Port Fwding appears to be working fine. Now it just can't connect to the subsonic.org server address?

Same here. I cannot connect from outside my router with anything 5.1 or later. 5.0 works just fine.

Have you checked to make sure the firewall on the computer where subsonic is installed has exceptions enabled? I had to manually do it for my Windows server? It is just a thought....

Hi. What is the operating system of your PC running subsonic? I'm on Windows Home Server v1, which I'm guessing is pretty scarce these days. So I was wondering if that was something to do with it. I also saw someone using windows server 2008 posted something on the 5.2 announcement thread saying this release had disabled port forwarding which could be connected.

I'm gutted - I have been using and loving subsonic for years, at least 4, and this is the first time I've had any problems.

Actually going back to 5.0 has left me we other problems now. Random doesn't work properly and search doesn't work at all

I'm using a whs v1 box with no trouble except for manually adjusting the firewall setting.

thanks blueturtles, interesting to hear that you are on whs v1 too and have 5.2 working. I do have exceptions enabled and there are three subsonic related entries, all ticked. So must me something else. What Java version are you using, I have version 7 update 67? Thanks

@ jonpca - since it seems like the firewall is set up properly, I would guess the problem lies within the router. I would check the port forwarding area just to be sure that is correct. Can you remote desktop control into your whs machine and use test your ports via canyouseemenow.org?

I will check which version of java I'm using later.

Hi. Thanks. My ports are fine on 5.0, but not on 5.1 or 5.2. Someone else posted in the 5.1 or 5.2 announcement that the new version broke port forwarding for them too. 5.2 introduced other problems for me too, most bits of the GUI don't load. So I am currently using 5.0 again - port forwarding is OK, but now Random and Search don't work - they used to on 5.0 - I suspect there is now a database problem. I get an error when I try to do a database clean up. So I've tried removing my media folders and re-adding them, but it's not making any difference. I think the next thing to do is a uninstall/reinstall! Thanks for your help. Cheers. Jon

Here is the java I'm using with whsv1: Version 7 update 71 build 1.7.0_71-b14. Hope that helps. Cheers, Jon

Hi. I took a drastic step and renamed my .db folder. Then added my folders and scanned. Random and Search seem OK now. Of course I've lost my Users, so need to recreate those. But I'm almost back to where I started before I upgraded to 5.1. I think I'll stick with 5.0 for now! Thanks again.

From what I can tell, *.subsonic.org addresses have stopped working. You have use dyndns, or no-ip or another DNS redirect service.

@jonpca & @rtechie, I use no-ip dns service at the router level. Maybe that makes the difference with WHSv1. Hope that helps.
