Sonos Controller does not see Subsonic Music Service

Postby ralfr » Sun Mar 01, 2015 3:35 pm

Hi there,

I've set up Subsonic 5.2 (build 4411) - February 23, 2015 on FreeNAS 9.3 and everything works fine except Sonos integration. Both, the FreeNAS and my Sonos system are on the same local network, Sonos BOOST attached to a port on the exact same switch, where the NAS is attached to, so no firewall / NATing or other network level rules interfere. Sonos Controller is on latest Version 5.2.

Any idea? Is this a known issue? Any troubleshooting tips?

One more thing: I looked into the logs and found:

SonosService No Sonos controller found

Seems as if the Subsonic engine cannot see the controller. Any idea what the reason behind this could be?

hi Sindre

Really looking forward to trying this out - sounds like a great answer to one of sonos biggest problems...

So far, i have this problem also...i go to the Sonos controller, and don't find an option to add Subsonic as a Music Service. Is it geolocked in some way, i wonder?

wrote too soon there, the Subsonic Music Service eventually did show up in my Sonos controller.

So, now I have added the drobo with my music on it, i find that there is only 1-2 tracks per folder. I have my music organised in alphabetical folders, within which are artist folders, within which are tracks. I take it from what I've read that this might indeed cause a problem for subsonic... Is that the case?

So were you just waiting with the Sonos app running on your machine and suddenly Subsonic appeared?

yes, pretty much.

but the story doesnt end happily. It worked perfectly for a day, but then, one day, when i looked in the Subsonic music service, the cupboard was bare. No tracks, although the service was there alright, just like before.
I removed and added the service again, but that didnt make my tracks appear again. Anyone?

I was able to at least make the connection by following the walk-trough for connecting Sonos to a remote Subsonic server and just using internal IPs instead of external ones. However, no music showed up when I went to browse.

I've mostly given up messing with trying to get this to work on FreeNAS until I hear if anyone else has this up and running...
