"By Genre" display issue

Postby ils » Sun Mar 01, 2015 7:53 pm

Hello.

I'm having some trouble with the "By Genre" sorting from the Home screen. My music will show up, but a portion of my library is misclassified. More specifically, in the genre selection dropdown, I see values I don't expect. For example, in the below screenshot you can see ID3v1 genre IDs, and in particular these four albums being sorted as genre "7":

When I open albums directly the genre is correct. For example, this album is one sorted incorrectly (genre "7") in the previous screenshot. It shows the genre I'd expect ("Hip-Hop/Rap") from the album page:

Further, if I click Edit Tags for this album, I also see the correct genre there:

My first guess was that the "By Genre" page is using the genre value from ID3v1 tags, while everything else is using ID3v2. That doesn't seem to be the case - I completely deleted all tag data (both ID3v1 and ID3v2) from the album above, manually re-entered the info, rescanned my library, and it still shows up in genre = "7". I have no idea where this value is coming from!

I'm currently running Subsonic 5.2, but I've been having this problem since at least 4.9. Any help or ideas? I searched and couldn't find any issues similar to this; my apologies if I missed an answer somewhere.

Did you 'Clean Up Database'? before the rescan?

I ran Clean Up both before and after rescanning, just in case. No change to the outcome.

Maybe that's my problem, though. I haven't actually removed these files from my library or changed the ID3v2 tags (since they're all correct); the only update was removing the ID3v1 tags. Will a rescan actually recognize that the files have changed in this scenario (and update the Subsonic DB)? It seems like it doesn't.

I experimented a bit this afternoon and the only way I was able to get one of these albums sorted correctly was by:
Removing the files from my library
Removing ID3v1 tags from the files
    Rescanning
    Running Clean Up
Adding the files back to my library
    Rescanning
I seriously hope there's an easier way to do this for the remaining 400 misclassified albums. Some of those steps can be combined obviously, but I'll still need to remove the bad albums one by one. I suppose I could just reinstall Subsonic, but I really don't want to lose all of my stars/playlists :(

I'm struggling with this issue ad well. Did you find any solution to this problem other than readding the files?
