can media folders contain multiple folders?

It seems like when defining media folders, each one can point to just one physical folder. Is that true? Is there a way to assign multiple folders? Maybe a workaround?

If not, could I make it a feature request?

Technically, (having looked at the source codes) I would see that as a very difficult thing to implement.
