just a followup to this item since there were no other replies.

I really wanted to give subsonic a chance and I do like the product and the GUI. But I was not able
to collect any information on the DLNA/UPNP handshakes to help figure out what was wrong. Log files on the server did not give any info
and upnp-inspector did collect some information but not enough to identify one particular issue.

As as aside, I tried various DLNA servers besides Subsonic, minidlna, XBMC/Kodi, but the one that finally worked for me out of the box was MediaBrowser/Emby.
Others trying to stream to Denon might want to give it a look.

Symptoms of the issues I was seeing for the record
Subsonic: could see the music folders and the files, but when attempting to play, would display a server error on the Denon
Minidlna: could not see the music folders
Kodi: could not see the music folders

so I am using Emby as a media server on a linux box, and a Denon remote app on iphone/ipad to drive the music to my outdoor speakers as I sit by the pool.

I will stop back periodically and retry Subsonic.

I'm curious if you could accomplish this using BubbleUPnP as a control point, and Subsonic as server?

I'm having this exact problem with my Denon network player as well. I had been using Subsonic as a DNLA server to stream to it for a while and it worked great. It's now suddenly giving me the "server error" message as described in the other messages on this thread. I'm on 5.2.1 and I'm guessing the trouble started with the previous upgrade. Here're the particulars:

Problem Description: Denon network streamer stereo component can connect to Subsonic DNLA server, reads folders, reads albums, can drill into albums to get to songs... but when trying to play songs, the receiver throws a "server error" message.

Troubleshooting Steps: Upgraded Subsonic to most recent version. Verified that Subsonic is working fine playing/connecting via PC, phone, etc.

Playback Application and version: Denon DNP 720 network streamer

Subsonic Version: 5.2.1 (build 4428) – March 4, 2015

Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.7.0_67, Windows 8 (63.6 MB / 109.3 MB)

Hardware Platform: Win 8

Java Memory Limit: 150

Problem Filename: All music files

Just to follow up, there seem to be a few other unsolved threads with people reporting this behavior--DNLA devices being able to connect to Subsonic, drill into the directory structure, but then throw an error when trying to actually play tracks:

Anyone have any thoughts on how to troubleshoot this?

Hi,

have look in my posting. Maybe your server has more than one ethernet interface as well.
Check the Metadata info of your media file and have a closer look at the ip
