Roll-back??

Does anyone know if there's an (effortless) way of returning to the previous release (3.5). I seem to be having too much trouble with getting the 3.6 to work to my satisfaction.

Using the embedded player, tracks skip and jump while 'downloading' and once the track has completed downloading simply stops and skips to the next track. Playback is fine however if pausing until download is finished and then playing. I can't be the only one to experience worse performance with on the fly transcoding with this player??

If I do have to uninstall 3.6 and reinstall 3.5, what do I need to back up if I'm to keep my setup?

I haven't tested it, but it should work to downgrade to a previous version. All settings should remain intact.

To be on the safe side, please backup c:/subsonic before you downgrade.

Thank's Sindre. Any hope of resolving this in 3.6 anytime soon?

Hi again,

After doing some testing, I have come to realise that the tracks that do skip and jump are mp3s. Now, heres the bit I just can't get my head around: Some 192 kbps, 44 kHz tracks work fine, some don't.

The log leaves me non the wiser. I have tried severel browsers and made sure caches are emptied. There are no errors in playback using local software.

Suggestions anyone?

I had a similar issue with 192kbps mp3 files. I dont have many over 128 and I noticed there were some that sounded like they were skipping (like they were ripped from a CD with scratches on it). All the ones with issues were 192kbps.

After someone else mentioned that they had the same issue I went ahead and re-encoded them down to 128kbps and the problem went away.

Thanks Jonathan,

As posted I have 192 kbps tracks that work fine, so I don't think the bitrate is the issue per ce. There is either a bug in the JW player, in flash, or (most likely) in the encoder I used at the time. I have a whole number of albums/artists with this problem and I was rather hoping not to have to re-encode them all. However, I'm starting to think I might have to. Either that or revert to 3.5. ;)
