[Solved] HTTP 503 - Deleted DB and Reinstalled Already

I am getting an HTTP 503 error on my Subsonic server now. I've been running this successfully since 2012 and suddenly start receiving this error. I have waded through the threads on the forum and a few other places and the consensus seems to be that one must delete the db folder and it will start working. I am on Linux Mint and have deleted /var/subsonic and uninstalled Subsonic and all dependencies. After reinstallation, still getting 503. I have also tried uninstalling Jetty, but it didn't help either. Getting desperate; any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
Typical, about an hour after posting I figured it out:
Checked my ports on my Mint box and 4040 still had a task listening that was not the same PID of the new installation of Subsonic. Killed the PID and rebooted. Started Subsonic and it's working.
Many thanks in advance.
