Subsonic 5.2.1 does not launch on Mac OSX 10.9.5

Can somebody help me out, please? I would really, really, really like to use Subsonic, but it just won't start. No popup screen, no error screen, only one or two bumps in the dock. The latest Oracle Java is installed and other Java apps like ClickRepair run just fine (although that one says it's using Apple Java 1.6.5). Perhaps I've got two Java's on my machine, but then I've read on the Oracle site that theirs and the Apple one can exist together without problems.

Because there are no popups nor error screens I've got nothing to go on, plus I never had to troubleshoot Java and my knowledge on it is about zero. However, when I go into Subsonic's package and run JavaAppLauncher I do get a story in Terminal about Exceptions and whatnot, that I can't understand. Yes, something is wrong, but what?

I can post whatever Terminal says here if you Guru's need it to check what's wrong, but since I'm new here I don't know if that's "done".

iMac, Mac OSX 10.9.5, Subsonic 5.2.1.

TIA and have fun, Hermie

Sorry guys, but I'm rather frustrated so I keep on trying. I really want Subsonic to work because it supports Sonos and would give loads of pleasure. This is what I get in Terminal, but I have no idea what it all means. Anyone?

Well, I'm about to give up. I tried just about anything I can think of, but Subsonic just won't run on Mac OSX 10.9.5. Nobody here seems to know why I can't get it going and I get no reaction from the developer, so I guess I've run out of options. Yes, Plex comes to mind, but I really prefer Subsonic. Thank you all for reading this far.

Have fun, Hermie

Did you ever delete all other instances of java?

Thank you vewwy much for responding alphawave7.

Yes, I think so, but I'm not really sure. So I'm willing to give it another try. Problem is that I'm not savvy on Java at all. I think the latest Apple iteration is installed plus the latest JDK from Oracle (JRE didn't work so I tried JDK without really knowing what I was doing).

So I'll try to find some uninstallers and get rid of the lot. But after that, which one should I go for? The latest Oracle JRE, perhaps? BTW when I look in the Subsonic package I see a JDK there as well.

Thank you for your time and help!

Have fun. Hermie

It works! Got a small headset in the menubar and it's scanning right now. No idea what I did different this time with ditching all Java and then reinstall the latest JRE, but somehow I got it to work. Oh boy, am I pleased!

Thank you all for your interest.

Have fun, Hermie

Does anyone have the patience to help out a not-very-savvy wannabe Subsonic user with this same Mac OS problem? To be honest, I tried to follow the thread but I'm gonna need someone willing to take me thru with baby steps. It would be very, very cool to access my Mac media on the TV thru our Roku unit, so I would be very, very grateful for any help. Any takers? Please?

I'm sorry MrDubya, but I'm not savvy enough to trouble shoot any Java problem. I went to the Oracle site to read how I could get rid of any Java on my machine including the virtual machines that were living somewhere and did that. Then I installed the latest consumer version (the JRE, not the JDK) from Oracle and this time it worked. After a while a small headset appeared in my menu-bar after launching Subsonic. A few days later I also installed the old Apple Java because something else I have needs that and that also works. Seems they can live together just fine.
