Subsonic Forum

To preface this fairly i'm brand new to linux and just installed mint 17.1 on an older acer tower with amds.I'm also no genius in windows either but i can scrape by thats about it. To be fair I prbly haven't done 10% of linux reading i should have to even fairly ask your help but hey maybe honesty can win some sympathy. Decied i couldn't live without subsonic in my life and want it to mostly stream to my android GS5. I followed the instructions pretty carefully no luck. Read i needed java 7 java 8 or maybe iced tea ? whatever that may be.i believe i can firmly say i have java 8 installed as well as subsonic is now installed in mint 17.1 iI believe subsonic5.12 deb is installed. when i go to local host 40 40 as directed i get nada . Im at a loss are there any linux gods or goddesses able to help someone as insipid as myself. I can revert to the windows version but i'd have to consider myself a failure. I do have a copy and paste of my terminal from tonight wether it would help figure it out or just be a great laugh for ya"ll. Lastly my few efforts kept asking if i was root and when i hit Y it denied me anyway. Any help would be so very apreciated and some simple command cut and paste is obv the only thing i can work with at this point. Ill upoad my terminal efforts for either a great ridicule or maybe someone can see where i went wrong either way Thanks for considering it. Julius
