Question about sorting displayed songs

Version 5.2.1 (build 4428) – March 4, 2015

Server jetty-6.1.x, java 1.8.0_45-internal, Linux (102.6 MB / 142.0 MB)

desktop computer is running Ubuntu 15.04

I still have 10 days left on my trial.

I can't figure out how to sort the songs displayed in a directory (album). For example, if I want to sort them alphabetically by song title. How do I do that?

Also..... What is the default sort order? I can't figure that out, it looks random to me.

As far as I know it's sorting by track number. If your tags are wrong (or you have multiple albums in the same directory), then the sort order will be wrong too.

Thanks for the reply.

Is there a second level sort? What if there are no track numbers? For example, a directory containg a miscellaneous collection of songs.

I'm afraid I don't know. I suppose it's by increasing disc #, then track #, then title if the former two are the same or missing.

If you want your music to be sorted properly you may need to reorganize the directory layout. Subsonic does suck at handling collections whose directory structure is not organized by "Artist/Album/Track". I'd recommend MusicBrainz Picard (a GUI program that automatically adds the correct tags to your music from the MusicBrainz database) or the more arcane Beets (that's what I'm using).
