Some albums not loading correctly (Failed to list children~)
Hi all,
Update: I've managed to find a log line which tells me something that's going on, see the log at the bottom.
Another update: I've found a solution, make a new directory, move the files within into new directory, then remove old directory, rename new directory to same name. I guess this is possibly related to group permissions, but it really doesn't make sense for the issue to only be apparent for one directory, not all, and especially over multiple "batches" of music...
Got an issue where some songs aren't loading properly. I've taken screenshots to demonstrate the issue and my confusion with it... As per the sticky post, here's the general stuff requested:
Problem Description: Certain albums are not loading into the library. It appears that the ones which do not load are the first album listed for an artist, and it only started happening yesterday (ish), so artists which existed previously were fine, but new ones are not.
Troubleshooting Steps: I have checked all permissions, updated to the latest version of Subsonic, and reloaded the library. I have tried renaming the album directories. The only solution I found was to create a new directory, move the files into it, delete the old one, then rename the new one. Even with the exact same new name, this trick worked.
Playback Application and version: Current latest version (5.3 (build 4568) – October 24, 2015) - whatever this came bundled with? It happens on all applications (iPhone, Android, web app) so I'm not going to detail precisely here.
Subsonic Version: 5.3 (build 4568) – October 24, 2015
Server Version: jetty-6.1.x, java 1.7.0_79, Linux (70.7 MB / 142.5 MB)
Hardware Platform: Linux (Ubuntu server 14.04 LTS)
Java Memory Limit: I have no idea where to find this, the machine only has 2GB of RAM atm, I need to upgrade it kinda badly but have spent too much money on new servers recently.
Problem Filename: There are a lot of them, some contain special characters, but most do not. I don't believe the file names are the issue, I suspect an issue with the import procedure.
Output from ffmpeg -i: I don't think this is relevant again, all the files in each artist are from the same source (either CD RIP or from the internet) - I have actually imported two copies of my Radiohead library, one I've ripped from CD and the other from the internet, only the one from the internet produced this issue. Conversely, I imported my CD RIP Stereophonics collection, which did demonstrate this issue.
Last ten log file lines: See right at the bottom of this post.
The images are detailed here, but can easily be viewed (in a cleaner environment than phpBB) here: http://imgur.com/a/Sr9Hp

This is the directory containing a bunch of albums, all by Red Hot Chili Peppers. All seem to have the same permissions, except for one. That one works, as do most, but the important ones, in this scenario, are Californiacation and Freaky Styley.

This is the Californiacation directory, showing permissions and owner of each file within.

This is the Freaky Styley directory, showing permissions and owner of each file within.

This is the Stadium Arcadium directory within Subsonic, as you can see, no tracks are listed.

This is the Freaky Styley directory within Subsonic, as you can see, all tracks are listed.
So, why does Freaky Styley work but not Californiacation? I've got a few other albums this is happening with, too. I'm sure it's not the directory name, as I took a guess that maybe a certain character was causing it, but every album except for Californiacation works fine, and others contain very similar character sequences without any issue. I'm baffled. Permissions are the same between the two, everything is identical but one isn't working. My brain is beginning to hurt from trying to work out what's going on.
Here's a log snippet from a scan detailing a recent failure (why though?):
