Subsonic not finding new music

I'm running Stablebit Drivepool and have a folder on the pool with all of my music. It found all of my music without a problem, and I've been using it for months with no issue. However, I've finally added some new music, and it's not finding it. I'm not sure if it's the drive pool that I'm using, but I haven't seen any complaints over at their forum about it either. My structure goes S:\Music\Artist\Album

Admin has rights to "music", and I've re-scanned the database dozens of times. I've also deleted the folder of music, rescanned, then added back and scanned again - nothing. I've never ran into this issue before. Anyone have any ideas?

No suggestions? I get it's a one man show now, but if support is non-existent and I'm unable to find new music added to my library, then I might as well switch over to Google or iTunes Music.

Maybe its a permission issue. Have a look here: viewtopic.php?f=2&t=16326&p=69927&hilit=Subsonic+not+finding+new+music

Look at your scan log under "About Subsonic". Should be some clues in there.

Hey guys, I'm having the same problem. 6.0 final on an Ubuntu host. The permissions are correct on my files and the associated directories. I've tried fast access mode, cleaning the database, etc.

I've checked the scan log and don't see anything particularly telling:

Code: Select all
[5/31/16 9:53:04 AM PDT]INFO   MediaScannerService   Scanned media library with 28961 entries.
[5/31/16 9:53:04 AM PDT]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Marking non-present files.
[5/31/16 9:53:05 AM PDT]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Marking non-present artists.
[5/31/16 9:53:05 AM PDT]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Marking non-present albums.
[5/31/16 9:53:05 AM PDT]   INFO   MediaScannerService   Completed media library scan.

There wasn't anything of note in either subsonic.log or subsonic_sh.log either. Is there a debug mode that would amp up the logging for this stuff in particular?

I'm considering nuking my database and rebuilding, but I'd like to retain my playlists so it's not a super great option.

OH HEY SO

I solved the problem and it's really stupid.

New album folders that contain non-music files, including JPGs and PDFs, aren't scanning correctly. If you remove those files, the album will show up, then you can put them back.

This is super annoying

This is definitely a bug, we should poke Sindre about it.

I'm having the same exact issue. I've got a fresh install of SubSonic 6 on a Windows 2012 R2 standard server with the music library on a StableBit Drivepool volume. The initial scan of the library found all my music. I added 2 albums and did a new scan but they did not get added. Neither of them has album art in the folder (it's just the MP3 files) and, as usual, the logs show nothing wrong.

Any thoughts?

Tom-

Try removing one mp3 file from the album directory and check the Web UI again, then put the file back. That worked with my tests. Also I did in fact email Sindre so hopefully he can provide us more info soon.

You mean remove a song that already shows in Subsonic? If so I tried that with no luck.

Funny thing is that the removed song still shows up in the UI but can't be played since the underlying file is no longer there.

No, I meant remove a song from the album that isn't showing up. It seems like the engine registers the change in the directory that way. Adding files doesn't seem to work, but removing files does.

Tried that, no luck.

I tried to also remove my library, clean up the DB and then re-add it with the same result. The new albums are missing

Oh, so I emailed Sindre and he suggested that it might be a timing issue. Apparently Subsonic checks the file and directory modification times to see if they need scans, and my system has been having some funky NTP issues. I just did a bunch of adds and ran ntpdate right before, and this time it worked normally!

Sadly NTP working fine over here. I guess I'll email Sindre since he probably has more than enough work to do without checking the forums.

What's Sindre's email? I've tried to PM him but apparently he does not read PMs....
