Mac osx10.11 port 80

I've searched the forums and I haven't found an answer to this but it's not the easiest thing to search for either.

I just want to run subsonic on port 80 (instead of the default port 4040) but when i edit the Info.plist file (while subsonic is not running) and set the port to 80 and then start up subsonic i can not log in. I shut down subsonic and change the port back to 4040 and start it back up and its fine.

is there something else I need to do on the Mac side to allow subsonic to use port 80?
