New UI is not acceptable

I have a large library. I was very comfortable with the simple left nav. The new method is, frankly a pain in the ass.
Please let me know how to recover the olf ui or downgrade to a ui that does not make me fill the screen with text links. This is not comfortable and is a ui.

It appears that admin users can fix the ui via settings/personal and then clicking on a value to use the left nave.

While I still have no use for the new crap that is forced on me in the nav, at least I can get close to what was useful. WTF were you thinking?!

Meanwhile, non admin users are screwed. They cannot get rid of the new crap ui. My wife, bipolar and not even the tiniest bit tolerant, is crawling up my ass over this.
Please revert the ui. At the very least, please let non admin users have the choice of a decent ui or the new crappy one.
