Web Interface VERY Slow

Postby tmwsiy » Thu May 26, 2016 1:30 am

Doesn't matter which browser I use- Chrome, Safari, Firefox...

Restart Subsonic, clear cache, reboot computer- still SLOW to display folder contents, slow to play songs and overall just not snappy.

Anything I can try to get back to performance I used to have?

I'm having the same issue, just installed on Mac using Chrome, plenty of RAM, so excruciatingly slow as to be pretty much unusable :-(

Fourth thread bump. Hopefully at least one of my questions will be answered. Thanks in advance.

Could you provide some more information?
On what OS is your subsonic running?
Are there other programs running on the server?
Do you have the same issue when you log into Subsonic on the server?
Did you ping the server and what's the response time?
How much memory did you allocate to Subsonic?
What did you do yourself to troubleshoot?

Thanks for the help.

Running Windows 7.
I don't do much with this machine and same things I always have: Subsonic, Plex and a torrent client.

I don't know what pinging the server means.

I have 750 MB memory allocated and seems to usually be using around 100.

Apps work perfectly fine, Sonos works perfectly fine, no delays.

Regardless of browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari), I am just getting slow, lethargic responses.
It used to be pretty snappy but now I dread using the web interface.

As far as previous troubleshooting: Restart Subsonic, clear cache, reboot computer, try different browsers, try incognito mode, try with different user

Could it be the torrent client is taking all the bandwidth?
Did yu try stopping Plex and the torrent client?
Do you have the same issue when you log into Subsonic on the server it self?
Since Subsonic doesn't use that much memory you could try allocating less memory. (512 or even 256 MB)
Perhaps the slowness could be caused by some database issues, so cleaning up the database might help.
Pinging the server means that you use the command " Ping" on another machine to discover how fast your server is in reacting to requests from the network.
Open a command prompt on a windows pc and type ping /? to learn how to use it.

Torrent client is mostly idle 99% of time.
DId try not running Deluge and Plex and made no difference.

It might be database issue as it is very large.

I never thought of trying to decrease memory as that seemed counter-intuitive: but I will try.

PING results all about 20 ms with no packet loss.

thanks for the help.

Maybe 6.1Beta will help but having a tough time with that already so might need to wait for some bug fixes.

I would stay away from the 6.1. Beta. Sindre has even revoked it because there are major problems with the database.
At this moment Subsonic 6.0 is superior in speed to 6.1. Beta.
How big is your mediacollection? I have about 140.000 songs in my database and allthough I notice some delay when I log in, I don't have a sluggish interface once I am logged in.
Did you try to locally log in to your subsonic server ( http://localhost:4040 )? The web interface should be more responsive than.
Did you use taskmanager on the Subsonic server to view cpu-load and network usage? Do you notice anything abnormal there?
You ping your server and get a 20ms response? If that's a wireless connection than it's not great.
I ping my server wireless and get a 2ms response.
Could it be that one of your neigbours is interfering with your Wireless channel?
Or did WIndows update install a new "improved" driver for the networkcard in your server that's causing the problem?
So there's a lot of things to check, but I would start by logging in locally on the server. If the web interface is fast there than you know it's not your server.
If the webinterface is also slow and sluggish than you have a problem with your Subsonic installation.
