Subsonic 6.0 Video Transcoding

Hello Subsonic users!

Previous installs of subsonic streamed video flawlessly without any additional intervention on my part. However it appears the latest subsonic 6.0 only has audio transcoding as default? Now I've looked around everywhere trying to find what I need to stream video and have tried adding various transcoding without any success unfortunately.

On my android phone it will stream music but no video. On my PC when I steam video I get the following error;

html5: Video file not found
http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:4040/stream?id=3 ... rted=false

The videos I want to stream are mostly; avi, mp4, mkv, mpeg etc so what would be the transcoding settings to achieve this?

Regards, Mark.

Bump again.

My subscription is up soon. Not sure if I'll renew without being able to stream video.

For anyone who cares. I ended up resolving this eventually by myself without any help.

I'm not that bright or smart but this is what I did;

I uninstalled Subsonic from FreeNAS and did a fresh install, then put in the transcoding - exactly what I did the first time - and everything worked.

My subscription for Subsonic expired in August so I guess I'll be renewing it now I managed to resolve this issue.

Thanks Markle for solving this for me. Subsonic is awesome.

You're welcome Markle. I love you.

I love you too.

Markle.

Hi Markle
Could you share what do you exactly have on the transcoding part? Mine stopped working long ago and was never able to fix it, just upgraded to 6.0 and only .mp4 works.
Thanks a lot
Leo

Sure leorivas,

Image

or just copy paste this;

Code: Select all
ffmpeg -ss %o -t %d -i %s -s %wx%h -v 0 -b:v %bk -maxrate %bk -bufsize 256k -flags -global_header -map 0:0 -map 0:%k -ac 2 -f mpegts -c:v libx264 -preset superfast -c:a aac -b:a 96k -strict -2 -threads 0 -copyts -

And in settings/players make sure your transcoders are checked;

I've since discovered I can't update any tags now, but I'll create a new post for that.

Good luck.

So glad I found your post. I had tried Sub 6 and was forced to roll back due to a transcoding issue I couldn't put my finger on. Your settings are great! I don't think I was transcoding to MP4 and instead getting a forced new MP4 file created for each video I wanted to stream. Not so now. Thanks Markle!

This did not work for me. Videos still freeze at 20 seconds, exactly.
