Compressing Subsonic.war again.

Hi.
I unzipped rhe Subsonic.war file to add a custom translation file.
As we all know Subsonic will run again using the Subsonic war-folder.
However I find that in my set-up Subsonic runs a bit sluggish and doesn't feel as responsive.
So I tried to zip the subsonic.war -folder again.
Of course I did all the proper things.
Stop subsonic service.
Use 7-zip to compress the subsonic war folder to subsonic.zip
Rename subsonic.war folder to NOTsubsonic.war.
Rename subsonic.zip to subsonic.war
Restart subsonic service.
But when i try to login I get a Jetty-db error
HTTP ERROR: 404
NOT_FOUND
RequestURI=/login.view

I tried zipping the file using relative pathnames. absolute pathnames but I can't seem to get it to work.

Anyone any ideas?
Should i use tar or rar compression instead?
