Subsonic does not show all subdirectories and all movies

Postby dln949 » Sun Sep 04, 2016 6:34 pm

Ubuntu 16.04, unity
Subsonic Premium, 6.0 build a7857c

On my server, I have a directory for movies titled, "Movies". Within that directory, I have eight other subdirectories, each one for a single movie. Also, within the same directory titled "Movies", I have many individual movies that are not in their own individual subdirectories.

When I open the android app for Subsonic, and browse my movie collection in the directory titled "Movie", all I see are the eight subdirectories which I am able to open and explore and play, but I do not see the individual movie files that are also in the directory "Movie".

On the desktop web interface for Subsonic I can see all the movie files in the left sidebar.

In addition, if I add a new directory for movies, so that instead of eight subdirectories within "Movies" I now have nine, the new (ninth) subdirectory does not appear in either the desktop web interface for Subsonic, nor in the Subsonic android app.

I have tried totally rebuilding the database from scratch, cleaning the database, manually rescanning the database, using the Linux "Touch -a" command, and then restarting the subsonic service, but that does not help.

How do I fix this problem?

Thanks for your help.

I would try this.
Try removing the "Movies" folder from your library.
(Settings > Mediafolder, Uncheck the "Movies" folder.)
Do a scan
Do a database clean up
Add the "Movies" folder to your library again.
Do a scan.
Perhaps this time the folder will show up.
One other thing to consider:
Does the name of the latest folder contain charachters like ë of à?
Perhaps that's the problem?

Thank you.

I had already tried the steps you suggested about removing-scanning-cleaning-adding-scanning the "Movies" directory. That changed nothing.

The name of the latest folder is simply, "various". So, no unusual characters.

Could it be that there's still a problem with permissions on the Movie-folder and the sub-folders?
I don't know how Linux handles this but in Windows in very rare occassions I have to adjust priviliges on new (sub-) folders I create for Subsonic to be able to properly scan the folder and its content.
